I know my skin needs
laser. Which is better,
Fraxel or ActiveFX?
The laser that will work best for you really depends on the
problems you have with your skin. And also whether or not
you're willing to accept some "downtime".
The ActiveFX has been
shown to provide about 5 times the collagen production as
the Fraxel II laser. So for building up new springy skin
cells, the FX laser excels. It's also an ideal solution for
spotty pigmentation and generalized sun damage. However,
because it is a CO2 laser, and actually does remove small
columns of tissue, you get about an average of 5 days of
"downtime". If you're willing to accept around 5
days of downtime you can get back 5 years in your age
appearance.
The
Fraxel II erbium laser is a better choice for acne scars
because you want the repeated effects of the heat
delivery deeper in the tissue. This is why Fraxel is a
series-based treatment instead of a single treatment like
the ActiveFX. Also, the Fraxel laser is sometimes a
preference if you aren't willing to accept downtime You'll
get smoother and better color balanced skin that way, too;
but the bigger effects on aging and sun damage come from
the ActiveFX.
Facial balance is a key component of
attractiveness. Not all of us are born with the high
cheekbones we so admire in models, or the chin projection
that keeps the lower face proportions in balance.
The previous methods of building up the cheeks
or chin were surgical implants.
The advent of a high density injectable like
Radiesse has totally changed that scenes.
Tissue Acceptance of
Injectables
The tissues in the skin are
"spongy" and very accepting of injectable products,
integrating filler materials extremely well. The final
appearance and feel are that of natural tissue.. Building
either the chin or cheek projection becomes a simple process
